I’m a clown, a writer, and an arts administrator.

I’ve had extensive training as a performer including: European Street theatre techniques from Richard Fowler of Odin Theatre in Denmark, clowning from Jan Henderson of Edmonton, Alberta, and movement from Denise Clarke of the University of Calgary.
As Hamlet the Clown I’ve enjoyed a twenty-five year career as a professional entertainer. Of the myriad of festivals and special events I’ve participated in, highlights for me include: Expo ’86, the Calgary Olympic Festival, the Edmonton Street Performers’ Festival the Calgary and Edmonton First Night Festivals, the Calgary International Children’s Festival and the Calgary Winter Festival. From 1984 - 86 I performed in Alberta schools and I have taught workshops in clowning, juggling, and acting, both for the school system and the community.

As a writer my poems have been produced on CBC’s Alberta Anthology and my poetry and short stories have been published by several journals in western Canada. As a playwright and as a member of One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theater's writing team I’ve had eight plays professionallyy produced and have earned recognition for my work including a play-writing award from Alberta Culture for co-writing the critically acclaimed Juggler on a Drum. I’ve had numerous writing grants and four play commissions. My last commission was an adaptation of The Little Prince into a libretto for the Calgary Boys Choir. This year I finished my first novel entitled The Pentacle of Pan and I’m currently working hard on a full length historical play called The Last Stand of the Lubicon Cree.
Presently I teach play-writing to junior high school students and poetry to grades four to six under the Artist in Schools Residency Program funded by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. I also teach in the schools through the ArtsSmarts Program sponsored by the Calgary Arts Partners in Education Society.
As an arts administrator, I was the first general manager of One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre and, following training at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 1987, I gave up that full-time job to take a four-month seasonal job as the sales manager for the Calgary International Children’s Festival. I renewed that contract for eight years, although since 1994 I’ve been a full time artist.
I was a board member for One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theater's. I was also a board member of the Alberta Playwrights’ Network and a member of the Writers’ Guild of Alberta and was
co-poetry editor for Blue Buffalo magazine for seven years. Other professional affiliations include the and the Drunken Poets Society.
I’m currently the President of the Single Onion Poetry Society
